Guestest With The Bestest Part III
So for this week’s Go Pink Boots guest piece, we turn to the fabulous Serafice Cordova, the woman whom I call in all seriousness and with great affection my “fabuguru”. Sera is the most gifted psychic I know – and yes, I know lots – and is uncanny in her ability to unravel rather well-knotted situations. Even, like, Jill-knotted situations. She’s also a medium, Reiki Master Teacher and – with her sister and business partner, the magnificent Crystal Waters – founder of WaterWing Wellness. And here’s the thing…even if you don’t believe for one little second in all this lovely New Age-y stuff, it doesn’t matter. Not a bit. Because Sera will just go ahead and dispense the wisest advice you’ve heard since Mom told you not to stick your tongue to that metal pole that winter back when you were seven. Seriously.
So, without further ado:
I was asked by my dear friend Jill Gleeson to contribute to her Go Pink Boots blog this month and I am a little at a loss on what to write about. She is a very dear friend who brings so much joy into my life that I want to do a good job and honor the request, but what do I write about?!?
I don’t entirely remember when we met though I know it was in the early 1990’s in good old State College, PA. Her younger brother and I were friends first, then Jill and I met when she moved back into town after living in Chicago for a few years. I was working at a record store and she was on the radio and our mutual adoration of booze, boys, boogie-ing and late nights made us fast friends. Unfortunately, I can’t really pin down a specific year or the exact details of the transition from ‘someone I know’ to ‘someone I spend every day with’ so not a terribly interesting story there.
Perhaps one of our adventures in Happy Valley? Except, I have a hard time remembering one that isn’t kind of racy. Ok, it is me and Jill so REALLY racy. And involve our afore mentioned adoration of booze, boys, boogie-ing and late nights. Not really a topic for an honorary blog!
I could talk about visiting her in Wichita or living with her in Oklahoma City or dinner parties at her place in Philipsburg or holiday celebrations with her folks. Maybe a story about how we lost touch for almost 10 years but have become even closer then we ever were in the last 6 months and the adventures we have had since with booze, boys & boogie-ing. There are certain themes that color our experiences together; laughter, companionship, support and creative discussions. What did you think I was going to say?
Since I cannot pick a single adventure that is any more worthy of being expressed here (and that won’t make us all blush) then perhaps I can discuss her blog, which I am so proud of her for. What an incredibly inspiring, creative, funny vehicle she has found to share with the world! I love how open to new experiences she is and how she is always up for a challenge and boy can that lady write! But since this is a post for said blog, you are already aware of what a great writer she is, how hysterically she is able to share her experiences and what a delight it is to read.
I should be upset that I can’t find something more specific to write about but to be completely honest I love that I can’t chose a favorite memory. All of my time spent with Ms. Jill Gleeson has been overflowing with mirth and love and discovery and friendship and I wouldn’t have it any other way! So the details will be left to your imagination and I will only say for certain that we have had many an adventure together and I look forward to having many many more.
